INFRARED SPECTRUM OF MATRIX ISOLATED PYRUVIC ACID
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
The infrared spectra of matrix isolated pyruvic acid and several $^{13}C$ - and D-isotopic species were analyzed yielding an almost complete vibrational assignment. In agreement with microwave results the five membered ring conformer (proton chelate) is found to be the only isomer present in the gas phase. Special emphasis in the discussion will be given to the non-planar ring vibrations, and to the structure of a Fermi resonance doublet by going through a series of $^{13}_{C}$ substituted modifications.
