THE INFRARED SPECTRA OF THE RARE-GASES
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
The collision-induced absorption (CIA) spectra of the binary rare-gas mixtures were measured at ${300^{\circ}}$K and ${480^{\circ}}K{^{1}}$ These CIA spectra were found to obey a rule of corresponding $states.^{1}$ Using these results, and relying on the fact that the contribution to these CIA spectra is mainly due to short interatomic distance interactions, uniform reduced interaction dipole and interatomic potential functions of the rare-gases were evaluated without any prior assumption about their form. Good agreement between the calculated dipole and potential functions of the He-Ar pair and those from the literature was obtained.
