dc.description.abstractThe $ {\Omega} = 0, J = 0 {\rightarrow} 1$ transitions in the $a^{3}{\Pi}$ state of CO have been measured for $ v = 0$ through 4. The spectrum is observed in absorption in a dc glow discharge in helium-carbon monoxide mixtures with the discharge Cube cooled to liquid nitrogen temperature. By using enriched carbon monoxide we have also measured the corresponding transitions in $ v = 0$ through 4 of $C^{18}O$ and $ v = 0$ through 2 of $^{13}{CO}$, which is complicated by hyperfine structure. The molecular constants of $a^{3}{\Pi}$ CO are being refit using the present microwave data combined with the previous optical and molecular beam electric resonance data of other workers.en_US
