LINE STRENGTHS FOR THE $3\nu_{1} + 2\nu_{2} + \nu_{3}$ BANDS OF $CO_{2}$

Abstract

The absolute line strengths of the $3\nu_{1} + 2\nu_{2} + \nu_{3}$ band of $CO_{2}$ at $7734 cm^{-1}$ have been measured with a resolution of about $0.05 cm^{-1}$. Individual line strengths were determined by measurements of the equivalent widths. Pressures varied between 40 and 200 Torr and absorption path-lengths from 500 to 2100 m. A White-type absorption cell with a base length of 25 m was used together with a 5 m Czerny-Turner spectrograph. These measurements are needed for the determination of Ar in the Martian atmosphere.
