dc.description.abstractA method for computing the transmission function of an inhomogeneous gaseous medium has been applied to the earth’s atmosphere in the infrared region of the spectrum for different conditions of sounding (orientation, spectral resolution, spectral region, atmospheric models, $\ldots$). The corresponding weighting functions presented have been studied for applications to remote sounding of the atmosphere from satellite observations or ground based observations.en_US
