ANALYSIS OF THE $\nu_{3}$ BAND OF $SO_{2}$ AND $NO_{2}$: APPLICATION TO STRATOSPHERIC $NO_{2}$ TITRATION
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
The spectrum of the $\nu_{3}$ band of $SO_{2}$ has been recorded on a ``dual-grille” spectrometer with a resolution of $0.06 cm^{-1}$. The accuracy of the calibration in wavenumber is $0.005 cm^{-1}$. The excited level constants have been computed by a mean square iterative method. The Watson’s formalism has been used. A similar work on the $\nu_{3}$ band of $NO_{2}$ has been carried out. Application of these data to the analysis of stratospheric absorption spectra led to the determination of the vertical concentration profile of $NO_{2}$ between 15 and 40 km altitude. Atmospheric multilayer spectra computed for this purpose are presented.
