dc.description.abstractThe reactions of Li with CO and $CO_{2}$ have been studied in Ar, Kr, and Xe matrices. The identities and structures of the different products formed were inferred from the isotopic shifts of the vibrational frequencies for the $^{6}Li, ^{7}Li, ^{12}C$ and $^{13} C$ isotopes. Two geometric isomers of LiCO and $Li(CO)_{2}$ were observed. Four fundamentals of $LiCO_{2}$ have been measured. Spectra will be compared to those previously reported for $MCO_{2}$ with $M = Na$, K and $Cs.^{1}$en_US
