Abstract
The microwave spectrum of 3-methyl-1-butene has been examined in the 18-40 GHz frequency region. Transitions of comparable intensity have been observed for species with the vinyl group trans ($\theta = 0$) and gauche ($\theta \sim$ $120^{\circ}$) to the isopropyl group. Transitions have been observed in several excited states for both rotamers. The trans species shows appreciable centrifugal distortion, whereas similar transitions in the gauche species are hardly affected.
