VIBRATIONAL CIRCULAR DICHROISM IN CHIRAL MOLECULES
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
We report the observation of natural circular dichroism (CD) in vibrational transitions of a number of chiral molecules. Previously published vibrational CD spectra are confined to one (C-H stretch) band of one molecule ($C_{6}H_{5}CHOH$($CF_{3}$)). Measurements are made with an IR CD instrument having a high sensitivity in the range 1850-4000$cm^{-1}$. Transitions associated with C-H, O-H and N-H stretching motions have been studied. The effects of structure, absolute configuration, and intermolecular association on the CD spectra observed will be discussed.
