MOLECULAR STRUCTURE STUDIES ON SODIUM SCANDIUM IODIDE
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
The nature of the molecular bonding involved in the association of the atoms in the stoichimetry $NaI\cdot cI_{3}$ has been investigated by laser Raman and X-ray spectrometry. Attempts have been made to interpret the results in terms of true compound formation and solid solution formation. Spectra of related scandium iodides have also been studied to examine the influence of the stoichiometry-structure relationship on the low frequency vibrational modes which are expected to interact with the lattice vibrations.
