ELECTRONIC SPECTRA OF $N_{2}$ -LASER EXCITED SALICYLIDENE ANILS
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
A pulsed nitrogen laser based on the design of Schenck and $Metcalf^{1}$ is being used to investigate the electronic spectra of excited salicylidene anils. The laser simultaneously irradiates the anil and pumps a dye laser which is used in a broad band manner to observe the electronic spectra of the photoproducts of the nitrogen laser irradiation. Dyes which lase in the blue region have been used to observe the spectrum of the transient quinoid structure of the anils.
