COMBINATION BAND PROGRESSIONS RESULTING FROM RING PUCKERING-VIBRATIONAL INTERACTIONS IN TRIMETHYLENE OXIDE AND SEVERAL DEUTERATED ANALOGUES
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
Combination band progressions arising from ring puckering-vibrational interactions are reported for the C-H and C-D stretching and bending regions of the infrared spectra of trimethylene oxide and several deuterated analogues. It will be shown how a simple theoretical model for the pucker-vibrational interaction may be used in conjunction with the far-infrared data to assign explicitly the combination progressions observed in the infrared and Raman spectra. With the aid of the combined data it is possible to locate the fundamental transitions in nearly all cases. Assignments for the normal vibrations will be suggested.
