THE INFRARED SPECTRUM OF THIOFORMALDEHYDE
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
Three bands of thioformaldehyde ($H_{2}CS$) near 3$\mu$ have been measured and analysed. Two of the bands have been identified as fundamentals ($\nu_{1}$---symmetrical C-H stretch at $2970 cm^{-1}$ and $\nu_{5}$---antisymmetrical C-H stretch at $3025 cm^{-1}$) while the third is an overtone (probably $2\nu_{6}$). The infrared data are of sufficiently high precision that it has been possible to make a small improvement to the ground state constants obtained from an analysis of the microwave spectrum previously reported by Johnnson and $Powell^{1}$.
