dc.description.abstractThe infrared spectra of the $^{1,2}$H$^{12,13} C$ $^{14,15} N$ isotopic species of HCN were measured in argon matrices. The discrepancy in the ratio of the C-H and C-N bond lengths compared to the gas phase, and the size of the solvent shifts of the vibrational frequencies are discussed in terms of various models for the argon- HCN interaction. The relative intensities of the isotopic frequncies in the matrix are compared to those in the gas phase.en_US
