SPECTROSCOPY OF METALLIC OXIDES USING LASER INDUCED FLUORESCENCE
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
A tunable dye laser pumped by a pulsed nitrongen laser has been used to induce resonance fluorescence in BaO, MgO, and PbO. The dye laser has a sufficiently short pulse duration (about 10 ns) to allow accurate measurement of the fluorescence decay and thus the radiative lifetimes of the excited states of these molecules. In addition to the lifetime results, the results of an analysis of the fluorescence of MgO excited by an argon ion laser will be presented.
