ABSORPTION INTENSITIES OF THE TRANSLATIONAL MODES OF CRYSTALLINE CARBON DIOXIDE
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
The integrated infrared intensities of the two translational lattice modes of solid $CO_{2}$ at 114 and $68 cm^{-1}$ were measured using the Beer-Lambert law and found to be $40 \pm 3$ and $26 \pm 4$ darks, respectively. Calculated intensities, determined by considering quadrupole induced dipole transitions have been reported and are compared with these results. We have also calculated the intensities by assuming that the molecules interact by means of an atom-atom potential.
