dc.description.abstractThe molecular species were obtained by vaporization from a mixture of the respective metals and $M_{2} S_{4}$ solids except for Ti and Tl where the $M_{2} S$ solids were used. The symmetric ($v_{1}$) and antisymmetric ($\nu_{3}$) frequencies have been observed in various matrices for the Group IHA period Isotope shifts for $\nu_{3}$ due to $^{24} S$ in natural abundance have also been measured in some cases. Isotope shift studies with $^{6}$ Li and $^{7}Li$ for the antisymmetric stretch ($\nu_{3}$) of $Li_{2} S$ indicate a bond angle of 114$\pm$5$^\circ$.en_US
