INFRARED SPECTRA OF DIAZOPROPYNE ($C_{3} H_{2} N_{2}$) AND ITS PHOTOLYSIS PRODUCTS
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
Infrared spectra have been obtained for diazopropyne, $H-C\equiv\stackrel{\displaystyle{H \atop |}}{C}-C=N=N$ in the gaseous and solid states, and in matrix isolation. The vibrational analysis has been performed on the basis of C, symmetry, using initial force constants transferred from related molecules. UV photolysis of solid and matrix-isolated diazopropyne gives rise to several new spectral features, which will be interpreted in terms of proposed decomposition products, in particular the propargylene ($:C_{3} H_{2}$) diradical.
