SINGLET-TRIPLET NONRADIATIVE TRANSITIONS IN AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS

Three mechanisms of intersystem crossing are elucidated. It is pointed out that one can distinguish between these mechanisms on the basis of a “secondary” isoltope effect, i.e. an isotope effect that depends on the position of the isotopic substituents and not on their number.
