THE ZEEMAN EFFECT OF SOME WEAK ELECTRONIC TRANSITIONS OF POLYATOMIC MOLECULES
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
“Apparatus has been constructed which allow a two-meter multiple-reflection absorption cell to be operated in a magnetic field up to 1000 oersted. With this apparatus and a large Ebert spectrograph, the Zeeman effects of a number of weak absorption bands have been examined. The near ultraviolet absorption bands of $CS_{2}$ have been studied in considerable detail, and here it hits been found that the rotational lines of the hands arising from low-lying vibrational levels are considerably broadened by the magnetic field. “
