Publisher:Ohio State University
The polarized visible and ultraviolet reflection spectra of auramine perchlorate single crystals will be presented and interpreted in terms of the dilute solution absorption. Emphasis will be placed on demonstrating the usefulness of reflection spectroscopy as a means of making absolute assignments of electronic transitions. The utility of classical dispersion theory in understanding and predicting the nature of reflection curves will be illustrated by presenting the results of calculations based on a simple crystal model derived from the reflection measurements.
