THE INFRARED SPECTRA OF HNCS AND DNCS
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
“Samples of pure HNCS and DNCS were studied in the gas phase and in non-aqueous solutions. Infrared spectra were recorded at prism resolution from 2 to 20 microns. Based on the frequency shifts resulting from deuterium substitution, assignments were made for the six fundamental modes of vibration. A normal coordinate analysis was performed and values obtained for the force constants. These will be discussed and compared to the values calculated by $Thomas^{1}$ from the data of $Reid.^{2}$ The preparation of the pure compounds and the chemistry of their decomposition will be discussed.”
