This study involves the description and identification of Recent benthic foraminifera from lagoonal bottom samples TEV 121 (Fadiffolu Atoll, the Maldive Islands) and TEV 297 (Wailangilala Atoll, Eastern Group of the Fiji Islands). A comparison is made between these samples and others collected principally in four low-latitude Pacific atoll lagoons at Bikini, Onotoa, Saipan, and Kapingamaringi. Similarities and significant differences in the faunal composition of the several assemblages are noted, and possible causes for these differences are proposed. This study concludes with a foraminiferal faunal list containing 88 species and varieties identified and their abundances, and taxonomic notes on new species and certain other species that in particular have been confused in the literature in the past.
