dc.description.abstractThe Raman Spectrum, including qualitative depolarizations, of liquid vinyltrichlorosilane and the infrared spectra of liquid and gaseous vinyltrichlorosilane have been obtained. The spectroscopic data indicate that the vinyltrichlorosilane molecule has $C_{s}$ symmetry. An assignment of the observed frequencies has been made on the basis of this symmetry. A new design of low-pressure, water-cooled mercury are lamp employing high operating currents was used in this investigation. The lamp, which is described, produces very intense mercury lines and a very weak background continuum.en_US
