This paper reviews the book Financiamiento y Apoyo a La Microempresa (Financing and promoting microenterprises), edited by Claudio Gonzalez Vega and Tomas Miller Sanabria. The book reflects the dramatic changes in perspective and attitudes in the field of microenterprise financing that have taken place in the past decade. These changes are reviewed here. The emphasis is on the increasing role of NGOs as financial intermediaries and the more strict criteria to judge their performance.
