A New York Times article discussing the pros and cons of President Richard Nixon's nomination of Harold Carswell to the Supreme Court is paper clipped at the top, with the headline "The Carswell Debate Kicks Off." Clipped to the bottom is a sugar packet featuring Nixon's portrait in a tondo format flanked by flags. The packet design was printed by a variety of sugar companies after 1974, such as the S.S. Kresge Company in Michigan and the Superior Tea & Coffee Company in Illinois. Similar sugar packets of Nixon's successor Gerald Ford were produced as well.
