Half-length seated portrait of Amy Lowell, holding a cigar and piece of paper that reads "I have lived the almanac, Amy Lowell, 1874-1925." The lace on her dress and the flocked wallpaper in the background were created with actual appliqué on the block during the printing process [CMA 2001.034.253]. First-state impressions [CMA 2001.034.405] have no text on the paper in Lowell's hand, the cigar is in a different position, and her eyes are lighter behind the glasses.
