The Battles of Philippine Sea and Leyte Gulf

Abstract

This thesis examines what may have happened if the Japanese Navy possessed skilled pilots at the Battles of Philippine Sea and Leyte Gulf. Also, given Japan's near success at Leyte Gulf, an examination of the battleship compared to the aircraft carrier and the role of the battleship in the modern world is made.
