James L. Murphy and James F. Morton, "The Newlove Earthworks, Clark County, Ohio," Ohio Archaeologist 35, no. 2 (Spring 1985): 20-22.
Two small Woodland earthen enclosures known as the Newlove Earthworks are illustrated and described. Previously published (MacLean 1886) and unpublished (Arthur R. Altick, ca. 1935) maps are included. Proximity to the Hopewellian Manring Mounds suggests that the Newlove Earthworks may be Middle Woodland in age. The circular and rounded rectangular earthworks are unusual in having been built on a hillside slope.
