James L. Murphy, "Radiocarbon Date from the Globe Hill Shell Heap 46HK34-1, Hancock County, West Virginia," Pennsylvania Archaeologist 47, no. 1 (April 1977): 19-24.
Abstract:
A radiocarbon date of 2170 B.C. from deer bone refuse found at the Globe Hill Shell Heap, Hancock Co., West Virginia, agrees well with a previous date (2270 B.C.) obtained from fresh-water naiad shell from the East Steubenville Site, Brooke Co., West Virginia, another "Panhandle Archaic" shell heap.
