LASER INDUCED FLUORESCENCE (LIF) EXCITATION AND DISPERSED FLUORESCENCE SPECTRA OF $CF_{3}O$ AND $CF_{3}S$: VIBRATIONAL ASSIGNMENTS FOR THE $\tilde{A} \leftrightarrow \tilde{X}$ TRANSITION.

The LIF excitation and dispersed fluorescence spectra, as well as lifetimes for many of the excited state vibrations, for the $\tilde{A}^{2}A_{1} \leftrightarrow \tilde{X}^{2}E$ electronic transitions of $CF_{3}O$ and $CF_{3}S$ have been recorded. The ground and excited state vibrational spectra are complicated due to observed transitions to both a and e vibronic levels. Lifetime measurements on $CF_{3}S$ excited state vibronic bands may be used to gain information on the predissociation threshold in this state. The spin orbit splitting in the ground state for both these molecules has been measured from their dispersed fluorescence spectra.
