Observation of High-lying Triplet States of $Na_{2}$ by Pulsed Perturbation Facilitated OODR Spectroscopy

Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
Triplet gerade states of $Na_{2}$ below $X^{2}{\Sigma_{g}}^{+}$ v = 0 and above 3s+3d dissociation limit were probed by perturbation facilitated optical-optical double resonance (PFOODR) $spectroscopy.^{1}$ Two pulesed dye lasers were used as PUMP and PROBE lasers. The PUMP laser excited transitions from ground state, $X^{1}{\Sigma_{g}}^{+}$, to the $A^{1}{\Sigma_{u}}^{+} \sim b^{3}\Pi_{u}$ mixed intermediate levels and the PROBE laser further excited from the intermediate levels to high-lying triplet gerade states. Ultra-violet OODR fluorescence was detected. Several high-lying triplet gerade states were observed and assigned.
