THE PERMANENT ELECTRIC DIPOLE MOMENT OF PTO, PTS, PTN AND PTC
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
A molecular beam optical Stark study of the ground and low-lying excited states of platinum monoxide, PtO, monosulfide, PtS and monocarbide, PtC was performed. A "cold" beam of platinum compounds was generated by skimming the products of a pulsed supersonic laser ablation (355nm, 5mJ/pulse) source. The Stark shifts and splitting were analyzed to produce values for dipole moments, $\mu$, of: [FIGURE] The results are compared with the previous results for $PtN^{1}$. A plausible molecular orbital daigram is proposed which is consistent with the observed trends.
