DIODE LASER MEASUREMENTS OF STRENGTHS OF $^{12}C_{2}H_{6}$ LINES NEAR $12\mum$

Diode laser spectra on the $\upsilon_{9}$ band of ethane were recorded to compute the band strength and transition moment of this band. These values were found to be $(14.88 \pm 0.94) cm^{-2}atm^{-1}$ and $(0.0277 \pm 0.0009)$ Debye respectively and were derived from the measured line strengths of $^{r}Q_{1}$, $^{r}Q_{2}$, $^{r}Q_{3}$, $^{r}Q_{4}$, and $^{r}Q_{6}$ sub-bands at 300 K. Procedure used for extracting line strength from unresolved doublets will be discussed.
