Education on the environment is increasingly important in urban areas where much environmental degradation occurs. Creating sustainable societies in which people are more aware of the codependent relationship between humans and nature relies heavily on education of environmental issues in a given area. Metro Parks exist throughout the United States, primarily as areas of conservation in growing urban regions. In Franklin County the metro parks were founded on this concept and offer many programs to educate the public on the importance of conserving natural resources in the county. Advisor: Becky A.
