dc.description.abstract | We have carried out studies into the application of an atmospheric pressure wall-stabilized argon arc source as a broadband source for high resolution FTIR spectroscopy. Investigations were carried out using a Bomem DA8-002 FTIR spectrometer at maximum apodized resolution. Spectra were recorded at 3.4, 5 and $8 \mu m$ respectively, to assess if there were advantages in applying this source relative to a 1530K glowbar source using where appropriate both InSb and MCT detectors. Results will be reported for spectra recorded in static gas phase and supersonic jet expansions. As there has been considerable interest recently in the application of synchrotron radiation as the source for high resolution FTIR spectroscopy, comparisons will also be made with published results from the Max 1 Synchrotron source at Lund, Sweden. | en_US |
