INTERNAL ROTATION DYNAMICS FROM FULLY RESOLVED ELECTRONIC $SPECTRA.^{1}$
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
This talk will review recent developments in the UV electronic spectroscopy of large molecules that reveal, at full resolution, perturbations of the rotational structure owing to coupling with internal rotation. Examples include the methylnaphthalenes and hydrogen bonded complexes of ammonia with several chromophores. We will show how one may extract from such spectra the torsional barriers in each electronic state and how these relate to the changes in electronic distribution that are produced by optical excitation.
