dc.description.abstractVibrational Raman optical activity spectra of 3-methylcyclopentanone obtained for the neat liquid and those predicted ab intio using 6-31G and $6-31G^{\ast \ast}$ basis sets will be presented. The experimental ROA spectrum for the (+) enantiomer compares favorably with the predicted ROA spectrum for the (R) configuration of 3-methylcyclopentanone. The agreement is most striking in the low frequency region, $-100-1100 cm^{-1}$. The vibrational assignments and the origin of ROA in the low frequency modes will be discussed.en_US
