THE MICROWAVE SPECTRUM OF THE CHO RADICAL

The microwave spectrum of the CHO radical has been observed in a swept frequency tunable cavity microwave spectrometer. The radical was produced in a flow system by the reaction of fluorine atoms with formaldehyde, and the K doubling transitions in the N = 2 and 3 rotational states were observed. Each K doublet is split by spin-rotation and hyperfine interactions, and the spectroscopic constants describing these interactions were determined for an analysis of the spectrum.
