Abstract

Modulated microwave double $resonance^{1}$ has been employed to obtain rate constants for collisional transfer of rotational energy between specific states of HCN. Using the expression obtained by $Gordon,^{2}$ a computer program has been written to calculate relative intensities and phase shifts for an assumed set of transition rates. Our data have been fit by varying the rate constants in a least squares analysis. The rate constants so obtained satisfactorily reproduce the results of Oka's $experiments^{3}$ on HCN.
