dc.description.abstractFrom high-resolution ($0.06 cm^{-1}$) measurements of spectral transmittance at 100 K, 153 K, 200 K and 296 K in the $\nu_{3}$ and $\nu_{4}$ bands of $^{12}CH_{4}$ and $^{13}CH_{4}$, and in the $\nu_{2}$ and $\nu_{6}$ bands of $^{12}CH_{3}D$, we have determined accurate nitrogen-broadened line widths and their dependence upon temperatures. While the simple $T^{-1.0}$ dependence prevails in all the cases, the line-widths of $CH_{3}D$ are larger than those of $CH_{4}$, for the same rotational quantum-numeral designations, by nearly fifty percent.
