QUADRATURE PROCEDURE FOR EVALUATING HIGHER-ORDER SEMICLASSICAL PHASE INTEGRALS

A scheme for evaluating the higher-order semiclassical phase integrals has been developed. The basic method is a Gaussian quadrature-like formula requiring only function evaluations on the real line and a straightforward calculation of weights which may be evaluated once and for all. The method is simple to program, efficient and allows calculations based on the higher-order phase integral approximations to be done virtually the same effort now associated with use of the first-order semiclassical (JWKB) approximation. A description of the method and some important applications will be presented.
