Abstract

Two, three and four photon resonances in the multiphoton ionization spectrum of butadiene were investigated between 2000 and 1500{\AA}, both to extend the earlier work of $Johnson^{1}$ into the congested 1700{\AA} spectral region and to study relative intensities observed in multiphoton ionization. One new three-photon resonance and one four-photon resonance were observed. The relations between these resonances, the electron impact spectrum and the previously observed transitions of butadiene will be discussed. We will also touch upon recent results which help to better delineate the range of experimental conditions over which accurate relative intensity information can be obtained.
