PHOTOEXCITATION SPECTRUM OF THE HYDROCARBON FLAME BANDS
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
The photoexcitation spectrum of the products of a reaction between F atoms (produced by a microwave discharge in $CF_{4}$) and formaldehyde, has been observed in low resolution in the region 2570-2390 {\AA} using as a photoexcitation source the output of a $N_{2}$ laser pumped dye laser doubled in lithium hydrogen formate. Six bands (2555, 2514, 2488, 2458, 2488, and 2400 {\AA}) have been observed with relatively low resolution ($\sim 1$ $cm^{-1}$). It is belived that these bands belong to the A$ \leftarrow X$ system of HCO near the origin. Efforts to correlate these observations with the matrix isolation spectrum of the $A \leftarrow X$ system of HCO obtained by Milligan and $Jacox^{1}$ have not yet been successful.
