INTERPRETATION OF SPECTRA OF Q BRANCHES OF TRIPLY DEGENERATE FUNDAMENTAL BANDS OF SPHERICAL TOP MOLECULES
Publisher:
Ohio State UniversityAbstract:
Absorption peaks are observed in the Q branch of hexafluorides at a moderate resolution. McDowell $et al^{1}$ have shown that these peaks are made of various ``clusters”, the frequencies $\nu$ of which are a function of the quantum number J. Using analytical approximate values of the $F^{(4JJA)}_{A_{1pp}}$ $coefficients,^{2}$ the frequencies $\nu$ of the ``clusters” appear as analytical functions of J, and the peaks are given by the value of J for which $d\nu/dJ$ equals zero.
