Abstract

The intensities, widths, and positions of lines of the 1-0 band of HCl have been retrieved from spectra of finite resolution $(0.1\;cm^{-1}$) obtained with a Fourier Transform Spectrometer. The Spectral transmittances of two samples, obtained at intervals $(0.06\;cm^{-1}$) larger than the Lorentzian widths of many of the lines, were analyzed simultaneously by using a nonlinear least squares $^technique^{1,2}$ The accuracies of the retrieved parameters are demonstrated by comparison with previously reported values. Line positions are obtained with accuracies better than $0.005\;cm^{-1}$ and the intensities and half widths to better than 5\% Evidence of line shifts caused by $N_{2}$ perturbation has been obtained.
