Title: INTENSITY DISTRIBUTION IN THE $2B_{1} \rightarrow 2A_{1}$ FLUORESCENCE OF $NO_{2}$ Creators: Hardwick, J. L. Issue Date: 1976 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: The 4545 {\AA} line of the $Ar^{+}$ laser excites the $^{P}R_{1}(12)$ line of a vibrational band of the $^{2}B_{1} - {^{2}A}_{1}$ system of $NO_{2}$ . Fluorescence from the upper level forms a long progression in the bending vibration which reaches a maximum intensity at ${v_{2}^{""}} {\approx} 12$.. The detailed intensity distribution of fluorescence allows comparison of observed and calculated Franck-Condon factors, giving additional information about the vibrational wavefunction in the excited electronic state.
