Title: THE INFRARED AND RAMAN SPECTRA OF PCl
Creators: Wilmshurst, J. K.; Bernstein, H. J.
Issue Date: 1957
Abstract: “The infrared spectrum of PCl in the vapour state and as a solution in $CS_{2}$ has been obtained. The Raman spectrum of a solution of $PCI_{5}$ in benzene has been obtained photoelectrically together with depolarization ratios. A complete vibrational assignment has been made on the basis of $D_{3{b}}$ symmetry, and force constants have been calculated. Thermodynamic functions have been computed from the assigned fundamentals and used to interpret the equilibrium of the reaction $PCl_{3}(g)+Cl_{2}(g)=PCl_{5}(g)$ giving $E^{0}_{o}=-20.525\pm 160$ cals $mole^{-1}$.”
