Abstract: Mario Capaldo examines the homily (Bog" gospod") of Presbyter John on the Baptism of the Lord, which does not have as its source a single Greek text, but is taken entirely and literally from four homilies of three different Greek authors: Proclus, Gregory of Antioch, and Theodotus of Ancyra. The sermon is usually anonymous in most manuscripts, but may be attributed to John the Exarch (also known as Presbyter John) or Cyril of Turov. Capaldo reviews the literature on the homily, discusses authorship, analyzes the structure of the sermon as well as the translation technique from Greek to Slavonic.
