Abstract: Park is recognized as a leading expert on domestic and foreign affairs surrounding the Korean peninsula. He has provided briefings to several foreign ministers, and has also acted as a consultant to former U.S. President Jimmy Carter during visits to Pyongyang in 1994 and 2010. In addition, Park was instrumental in the release of American journalists from North Korea in 2009.
